What really helps against large pores?

If the facial skin is not even and constantly shiny, expensive creams, household remedies such as ice cubes or even mixed cucumber masks often show no lasting effect. Biotulin asked an expert for tips and tricks to refine the skin texture and eliminate large pores.

Besides pimples, large pores are one of the most unwelcome blemishes, so many people would like to do without their pores completely – and they have a very useful function. Dr. med. Tanja C. Fischer, dermatologist from Berlin, on Biotulin: “Pores are small openings that occur in countless numbers in human skin. They are small channels through which the body secretes sebum. This sebum serves to keep the uppermost layer of skin, the so-called horny layer, and also the hair supple. In addition, sebum production also has an important protective function, according to the expert. The sebum is important to protect the skin from diseases, bacteria and environmental influences.

How do enlarged pores develop?

“The size of skin pores is mainly genetically determined. People who tend to have oily skin tend to have larger pores and are also more susceptible to pimples, acne and general impurities,” reveals Dr. Fischer in response to Biotulins demand. In addition, pore size is also influenced by environmental influences such as UV rays, personal lifestyle (nicotine, stress, alcohol, unhealthy nutrition) and the natural ageing process. In certain phases of life, such as puberty, pregnancy or menopause, sebum production is increased due to hormonal changes, the expert knows.

Do not wash your face too often. Twice a day – in the morning and in the evening – is enough. A moisturizing, pH-neutral cleanser is the best way to help. Large pores are NOT the result of impurities. In general, the following applies to skin care: Avoid creamy and greasy textures, rather use light fluids or refreshing and moisturizing gels as care products. For very oily skin which produces an excessive amount of sebum and has large pores, products with high doses of retinol (vitamin A) are recommended. Tea tree oil, zinc, silicon and salicylic acid also have sebum-regulating effects.

Clarifying face masks, e.g. with healing earth, help to refine the pores. They stimulate the blood circulation and promote the excretion of excess sebum. The mask should bind to blocked pores and blackheads and then become firm. This way, the impurities are simply pulled out of the skin directly when the mask is removed.

Make-up clogs the pores and promotes pimples

There are plenty of Pore Minimizers available in stores. However, they can only visually conceal enlarged pores instead of actually reducing them. The polymers contained in the pore are deposited in the pore and thus prevent the light from being refracted in the depression. Primers and make-up bases have a similar effect. Make-up should only be used sparingly and rarely. With large-pored skin, the foundation often gets stuck in the pores, which makes it look even bigger and less attractive. It is best to conceal blemishes only in places with a concealer instead of covering the entire face with make-up or using a light BB or CC cream instead of foundation.

Important, especially with large pores: products with light protection. Because if the skin ages faster, it becomes flabby and the pores expand additionally.

Professional treatments for large pores

The chemical peeling

In the process, the uppermost layer of skin is removed by means of fruit acids. This regenerates itself afterwards and looks fresher, younger and finer, pores can appear smaller. Dr. med. Tanja C. Fischer: “However, this method is not completely harmless and should be carried out by an expert in any case, since if the acid concentration is too high, the skin is corroded and scars can remain. And please do not perform it directly before an important appointment or date: The skin can be red and peeling for days.

The microdermabrasion

This method is often combined with a chemical peeling. The top layer of skin is also removed mechanically with a grinding head with a diamond attachment, which reduces the pores and makes the skin look more even.

Laser treatment

In an approx. 40-minute treatment, similar to chemical peeling, collagen production and the formation of new skin cells is stimulated. As a result, the pore size becomes smaller and the complexion looks more even. Advantage: The method is gentler, the skin heals faster. Only shortly after the treatment the face is slightly reddened.

hi guys today's topic is about a problem
that many people ask me every day large
pores and I will give you my ten
dermatological and personal tips how you
can get a grip on it so if you have
large pores chances are that you've
tried many things and nothing really
helped I'm here to help y'all but before
we get started with the tips let's
clarify what exactly pores are a poor as
a colloquial term for a tiny Hardie
visible little opening on the surface of
our skin pores are typically associated
with a different duct of an oil gland or
it's a patient's follicle and it's
connected hair shaft it produces an oily
matter that is called sebum the sebum
spreads across our skin and lubricates
and water proves it but it can also be
that there is too much production of
sebum and that in turn drives the
dilation of pores this is often
associated with an accumulation of horny
cells in the different duct of the
sebaceous gland before we continue with
a theory you'll get my first five tips
number one only use cleansing products
that are adapted to the natural pH of
the skin's protective acid mantle on
really good products this feature is
claimed number two if you have enlarged
pores or white of blackheads on your
nose don't put on any care cream yes you
heard me right no clear cream on oily
noses and don't worry you won't get any
wrinkles on your nose I've been doing
that for over thirty years and I can
tell you it works but if you have to go
into the Sun of course you can put on an
oil-free sunscreen and also mattifying
powder is no problem number three carry
a package of all blocking cheats with
you two
your skin and touch up during the day by
getting rid of the oil it won't build up
on your face but don't scrub but debit
like this so you won't get streaks if
you wear makeup
number four basically avoid heavily
oil-based or lipid rich cosmetics on
oily skin they are a nightmare for this
skin type rather use light moisturizers
number five even if you are so tired
from partying or working at night
please love your skin as I do and as a
dermatologist I must tell you please
wash off makeup from your skin before
going to bed and now before we carry on
with the last five tips let's get back
to a little bit of theory about large
pores we were talking about sebum
production but there are other factors
causing pores to become enlarged for
example the overproduction and
accumulation of horny cells and the
different duct of the oil gland or on
the other hand inflammation aging and
sun damages the fine fiber network of
the connective tissue around the
different duct of the oil glands and if
this fiber network is damaged it can't
support that little duct anymore and
that contributes to the enlargement of
pores I've done up a few extra videos on
oily skin and acne for you but today
will focus on large force but please
keep in mind pores are a necessary vital
part of the skin and the question is not
how to get rid of them but how to
improve the complexion so that they are
less visible
let me also do away with fictions and
fake
news about cosmetic creams claiming to
take care of large pores just by adding
a bit of cream you will not turn large
pores into invisible ones there is more
needed so far so good tip number six
limit your dairy products don't drink
more than 200 milliliters cow milk per
day if any the contained messenger
substances stimulate insulin and certain
growth hormones and these boost
sebum production and thereby may
enlarged pores so rather switch to
alternatives like plant rings number
seven is not sweet reduce the
consumption of food high in sugar
amounts because they lift up the insulin
level in your blood and thereby induce
the activity of oil glands in your skin
I admit that I like sweets too but try
to keep it in the right proportion
number eight don't smoke or try to stop
if possible because smoking has a lot of
negative impact on our skin like reduced
blood flow or altered composition of
sebum both of them are not beneficial
for fine pores number nine ask your
dermatologist if in-office procedures
like medical peels or needling or lasers
may be useful for your skin as they can
have a beneficial impact on the size of
your pores I personally favor all kind
of medical peels for example with fruit
acids herbs or trichloroacetic acid if
you decide to get such a treatment make
sure that the person performing it is a
long-term experienced and trained expert
number 10 and finally my overnight tip
for you
from time to time apply a thin layer of
a drying zinc oxide lotion to the areas
with enlarged pores like the nose you
will find several from different brands
like this one and by the way I would
like to point out that I receive no
contribution from the brand I genuinely
endorse the product and that's why I
recommend it and if you're interested
you can find the link in the infobox
sometimes I even use the time when I'm
working at the computer and apply the
lotion meanwhile you can utilize times
like these too for the benefit of your
skin by the way they are also oral
medications or medical creams that can
improve sebum production and thereby
reduce the visibility of pores if you
want to know if some of them might be
relevant for you please talk to your
doctor and that's it for today guys I
hope you find this video helpful and if
you do so I'd be happy about your likes
and don't forget to subscribe as well
take care and I'll see you in one of my
next videos very soon your Beauty Doug
