The latest anti-aging miracle weapon of the cosmetics industry

Hyaluronic acid

Business with anti-aging products is booming the world over and generates billions in sales as women and men across all cultures seek to look younger than ever. Nowadays, the entire beauty industry is geared towards making people look healthier, younger and fitter, eradicating any signs of a natural ageing process. However, not all products that promise to rid the skin of unwanted wrinkles are actually effective. Many can even be extremely harmful, sporting a number of unwanted side-effects.

Hyaluronic acid, however, is a rising star on the anti-aging market due to its unparalleled effectiveness and tolerability. Virtually side effect free, it has become a significant rival to the still very popular neurotoxin Botulinumtoxin and synthetic substances such as silicone. Despite its rather unnaturally sounding name, hyaluronan does not originate in the laboratories but is an endogenous substance that is found throughout our body in various tissues and fluids. It is used in both aesthetic and mainstream medicine.

1 substance – multiple benefits

Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide that is produced by the body itself. The transparent, gel-like substance is responsible for the elasticity and resilience of the skin. It is also the main component of synovial fluid where it acts as a lubricant. It is found in bones, discs, and even the vitreous body of the eye.

The most notable feature of this miraculous substance is the ability to bind large amounts of water. A single gram of hyaluronan can bind up to 6 litres of water! This ability helps regulate the moisture content of the skin, making it a true fountain of youth. However, hyaluronan does not only help fill in lines and wrinkles but is also indispensable in modern medicine, where it is used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, for example.

Hyaluronic acid deficiency

The body’s own production of hyaluronic acid slowly decreases after the age of 25. As a consequence, the elasticity of the skin deteriorates and it increasingly loses the ability to store moisture in the cells. The first wrinkles start appearing and the skin becomes drier and, over time, begins to droop. The only way to slow this process down is by replenishing the body’s supplies of hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid can be taken orally, injected under the skin, or applied to the skin externally as ingredient of an anti-aging serum or anti-wrinkle cream. The earlier in life you start filling up the body’s hyaluronan supplies, the longer you will be able to keep your youthful appearance. By applying hyaluronic acid to your skin regularly, it is supplied with the moisture it needs to help keep the elasticity of your connective tissue intact. You get a fresh, youthful complexion, wrinkles are significantly reduced and new facial lines will take longer before they appear.

Beware of the sun

Selfie COSMETIC is the beauty secret of international influencers and stars protect you against UVB rays.

Not only the natural ageing process can affect the skin negatively. Excessive sun exposure is a major cause of wrinkles, especially on the face, neck, hands and forearms. The skin can protect itself for a determined period of time through increased melanin production, which is what causes the skin to become tanned. However, that sun-kissed look may come at a high price!

UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis and unprotected exposure can lead to premature skin ageing. The radiation releases free radicals that attack the major constituents of the connective tissue, collagen and elastin. These hydrophilic (“water-loving”) proteins are then practically dried out, the skin becomes thinner and flabbier, and first wrinkles develop.

The skin does try to protect itself and is also able to carry out its own “repairs” to some extend, however, the increased formation of new cells can cause uneven thickening of the skin. Other side effects of UVA radiation include irregular pigmentation of the skin, such as age or liver spots.

Although short-wave UVB rays do not penetrate the skin as deeply, they are no less damaging. They affect the DNA negatively, which can lead not only to premature skin ageing but also to skin cancer.

Hyaluronic acid is therefore most effective in combination with a sunscreen filter, in order to protect your skin from the harmful effects of sunlight.

Less wrinkles and a visibly younger look within 60 minutes ? With the new biotulin no sorcery.

Since hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our body, it is not only one of the most effective anti-aging products on the market but also highly bio-compatible. Foreign body reactions, as they happen quite often when using silicone or Botulinumtoxin, are extremely rare. It is not seen as an “intruder” that needs to be fought. The risk of an allergic reaction is therefore extremely low. Especially the external treatment with hyaluronic acid knows almost no side effects.

Another benefit of hyaluronic acid is its long lasting effect. Results are visible much faster than with Botulinumtoxin, without the unwanted side effects of a frozen or even mask-like facial expression. It smoothes out the skin, making it appear younger, healthier and more beautiful. Moreover, when injected, the effects of a hyaluron treatment will last longer than the same treatment using Botulinumtoxin.

The advantages over surgical procedures, such as a facelift, are self-explanatory. No facial muscles are damaged by a scalpel, so you do not have to worry about poor scarring or any of the other side effects that cosmetic surgery under general anaesthetic typically involves. Hence, you get the best possible results without risking your health.

Since hyaluronic acid is also used in anti-aging creams and serums, it is not even necessary to use injections or more invasive procedures. Depending on the product, it may take a bit longer for the effects to become visible, however, it is one of the gentlest wrinkle treatments currently available on the market. Hence, if you are not a huge fan of surgical procedures, hyaluronic acid, as ingredient of an anti-wrinkle cream or serum, may just be what you were looking for.

With so many products containing hyaluronan to pick from, it is truly a hard choice to make. It is recommend to choose a product that combines hyaluronic acid with a sun protection factor (SPF) of a minimum of 30, in order to not only replenish your skin’s moisture reserves but also protect it from new damage.

The SPF is a relative measure of how long your skin will be protected from the sun. The higher the SPF, the longer you can stay in the sun without the rays affecting your skin. However, it also depends on your skin type. If, for example, you have a very light complexion and light or red hair, you are skin type 1, with a self-protection time of only about 10 minutes if exposed to sunlight. A cream with a SPF of 30, for example, increases this self-ability to protect itself from sun rays by 30 times, hence 10×30 = 300 minutes = 5 hours. If you are more of a darker skin type, the amount of hours you could potentially stay in the sun will be significantly higher. Hence, by applying an additional sunscreen you can enjoy the outdoors on sunny days, without the risk of damaging your skin.

Biotulin UV30 is the world’s first dermatologically tested skin protection combination that combines an effective sunscreen with an anti-aging moisturiser and wrinkle cream. Both UVA and UVB rays are blocked and cannot penetrate the skin to damage it. Together with hyaluronan, which cushions the skin, and the plant-based local anaesthetic Spilanthol, which relaxes the muscles in the uppermost layers of the skin, Biotulin UV30 protects your skin effectively against premature aging, whilst still allowing for a subtle, healthy sun-kissed look.

Hyaluronic acid is a true miracle weapon when it comes to combating wrinkles and keeping a fresh, healthy and youthful appearance. See for yourself!
